Documentary Mini Task

 Documentaries are made to inform the viewers about a certain topic for example the viewpoint of a person or an issue in society. When a documentary is being made the production, process is usually presented in a few different types of formats for example Expository documentary observational documentary interactive documentary reflective documentary performative documentary. These documentary types were made by an American documentary theorist called Bill Nichols.  

An expository documentary is supposed to directly address the viewer with a certain viewpoint, topic or story that is meant to represent something happening in the real world. They mostly use narration over images on the screen. A nature documentary would be a good example of this, for example the blue planet. 

An observational documentary is made to be able to record and document the subject of the documentary in the least invasive way as possible, making sure that the camera crew and makers of the documentary have no influence is what is being recorded. An example of an observational documentary would be addicted to sheep by the BBC.  

An interactive documentary sometimes involves the film maker being a main part of the production and in the documentary itself there is usually some sort of interaction between the presenter and audience. An example of an interactive documentary would be Water life 2009. 

A Reflexive documentary usually includes the film maker inside the film however the film maker only tries to focus on the film itself a good example of a Reflexive documentary would be man with a movie camera 1929. 

A performative documentary is a type of documentary that tries to explain a real-life matter but does it in an exaggerated manner, for example re-enactments and exaggerated camera positions and soundtracks help to keep the viewers' attention. A good example of a performative documentary would be The Thin Blue Line

In my opinion i think that a documentary should be a video that shows the viewer something factual and tells some kind of story whether it is present or in the past this is what i think a documentary should be in my opinion.

  Single Camera Essay   Introduction    This essay is all about the topic of single camera productions. I am going to talk about topics such as the camera, lighting, sound, editing and not just these. Also, how single camera productions tend to be used more in certain genres and formats and why this differs to multiple camera productions.   Camera   In a single camera production, each scene or take must be changed, so the actors cannot keep acting if the next take is of another person or subject or even if the camera changes its position, but it stays focused on the same person or object. Primary Research Mental Health

  Primary Research Mental Health  I wanted to see if being in nature actually helped mental health to fact check for my documentary  so I asked random strangers if it did. I asked them a yes or no question that specifically states “Do you find that nature helps you mental health for example helps with stress?” I also asked these people at the location I chose to film. Which was in nature anyway so I think I was more likely to get a reliable response. Even if I did not get the results that I needed, I always had my own experiences to rely upon as this is a topic that I have looked into even before I started this documentary project. I asked 15 people and surprisingly to me 12 out of 15 people said yes it does I'm not sure whether they were completely true to their words but there's tons of other research conducted that also proves this point for example ( https://www.bbc.com/ownit/its-personal/nature-can-help-your-mental-health )
