Role of the writer.

 Director

The director is one of the people in charge of making a film and is and must work under the producer. Because of this they usually work with the producers on the script in pre-production and before pre-production.

they will work with the director of photography on how it is being filmed, sometimes they change somethings like the type of shot lighting and help decide with what actors would work best with the script in early development they work closely with actors and the editors after production.

Becoming a director is not a straightforward process and they often have to have studied at university and experience working I film and tv sector already they also need to have strong leadership skills since they oversee a team of people already. You can also finance a film yourself and become a director that way.

Producer

Producers oversee managing the progress of the film or tv programmer they oversee budgeting and help in all distinct parts of the process of making the film or tv programme they are also responsible for hiring and firing staff who are working under them. This means they also have some creative control and can give ideas to screenwriters. Becoming a producer is not easy most of the time they must have a lot of experience in the film and tv industry because of this they become a natural leader in the making of the film and everyone working on the project must run ideas through the producer. As I mentioned before you must have a lot of experience in the film and tv industry to become a producer as they have many responsibilities.

Development Producer

A development producers' line of work is simple, seeking promising scripts and adapting them to make sure that they are good enough to be commissioned by a production company in most circumstances they will work with the screen writer responsible for the script to achieve this. In other words, they are like scouting out both promising screenwriters and their scripts. https://www.screenskills.com/job-profiles/browse/film-and-tv-drama/development-film-and-tv-drama-job-profiles/development-producer-film-and-tv-drama/#:~:text=Development%20producers%20find%20stories%20and,and%20will%20appeal%20to%20audiences.  Screen Skills source website

 Screenwriter

Screenwriters are responsible for the production of a script for a tv series or film however the producer and director do oversee the progress that is made on the script. Most of the time screenwriters are freelancers and get commissioned by production companies to create a script if they are already well known in the industry. It is much easier but for new writers it is much more difficult to get noticed and especially have a script go into production screenwriters do get paid for scripts that production company’s purchase but do not necessarily use however they usually get more if it does go into production whether they are involved in the production to the company just hire another screenwriter to work with the script is another possibility. Script Reader

A script reader is the person responsible for judging whether a script would succeed as a film or not. They often read scripts that are sent into production companies such as the BBC for example. They judge various aspects of the script and write a summary of it.

The role is usually taken by intern script writers, but big companies often hire freelance script writers instead. This is important because if they are an intern, they could also have other responsibilities as well.  ( https://www.masterclass.com/articles/script-reader#what-does-a-script-reader-do

Script Editor

A script editor will look at a script and make any changes that are necessary to improve the script they work closely with screenwriters to minimize mistakes and make sure that the script is as good is it could be. They share many responsibilities with the screenwriters but also a few more such as general editing, checking for copyright breaches and checking for continuity errors. https://filmsonashoestring.com/what-does-a-script-editor-do-in-the-film-industry/ filmsonashoestring.com source website.

Commissioning body

A commissioning body is a company that accepts screenplays from an external source and is willing to put them into production. This is usually done by screenwriters submitting screenplays but can also be achieved from screenwriting competitions. A good example of a screenwriting competition would be the BBC as they are very open to script submissions and actively encourage it.

Independent Production Company

An independent production company is not linked to big Hollywood studios, like Disney for example, and are often hired to create indie films. This is in comparison to big Hollywood studio films with a huge budget and recognized production company.

Independent Producer/director

An independent producer and director will most of the time share the same responsibilities as a big Hollywood studio producer but as the budget for smaller indie films is much lower, they would get less pay for example. They also might have the responsibility of providing funding for the project especially if it's their own idea or truly believe in the idea.

Role of the writer throughout production.

During Pre preproduction a screenwriter will work with many other members of the production team to make sure that it all goes smoothly for example during pre-production they will work closely with the director and many other members of production for example they will help develop ideas for the screenplay during production they usually don’t do much but can take on an advisory role.

Working as a writer

A screenwriter will usually have an agent to help them. A screenwriter's agent will help them negotiate deals with commissioning bodies who want to buy their script or even put it into production. They can also help a screenwriter to sell their screenplays to different production companies as they usually have connections within the industry that they can pitch the idea to.

Royalty payments

Royalty payments are payments for the use of intellectual property like films and tv shows royalty payments in the tv and film industry are called residuals and are used when a tv programme or film is shown in some way like being rebroadcasted or released in cinemas again.

Professional Presentation

A professional presentation for a screenwriter would be done to pitch the idea of the screenplay and could be handled by the screenwriter's agent.

Time Management

Screenwriting can take a long time to complete so good time management is vital for example working on your script around everyday life, working on the script while on the go, and pitching your ideas to family are all great time management techniques.

Legal and ethical considerations

Plagiarism is the act of taking someone else's work and making it look like you created it yourself without the owner's consent/permission

Bias is when one side in an argument, for example, is agreed with for example, but without considering the other side's points. I think it is ok for screenwriters to be biased but that has its limits, for example where the film is based on a true story they should not be biased or risk offending people and never getting a job again.

A libel is a statement in written form that is proven untrue about someone, usually an article or letter or website, for example. And defamation is just an untrue statement that is made to damage someone else's reputation. A screenwriter would have to be careful of this, for example if they were writing a film based on a true story there is always the risk of being sued even if what they are writing is completely true because they are writing about real people who can be sue you.
